Collaborative Services
Facilitation of Partnerships
Collaborative partners work together to:
- Better integrate and improve services to children and families.
- Empower and strengthen existing providers and their services.
- Build relationships between providers and the community.
- Utilize strengths among members.
Direct Service Provision
The North Shore Collaborative's
- Learning Opportunities Through Stories (LOTS) in five North
Shore communities:
- Provides an early literacy experience for children and families
- Connects families with community early childhood resources
- Strengthens skills critical to early school success
- School-linked Mental Health Services in Lake Superior and
Cook County district schools:
- Provides access for students to mental health services regardless
of ability to pay.
- Provides consultation to educational staff regarding mental
health issues.
- Promotes mental health, suicide prevention and works to reduce
stigma related to mental illness.
- Family Support Coordinator in Cook County:
- Facilitates Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) parent
sessions
- Offers family support services at home and in the community
- Provides parent resources in various ways including:
- One on one meetings with parents
- Parent information packets on different issues
- Resource library
- Kinship Mentor North provides a community-based mentoring
program that matches Cook County youth (ages 7-13) with positive,
caring adult volunteer mentors in order to:
- Foster success in school
- Develop social skills
- Nurture personal growth
