What is the
North Shore Collaborative?
The North Shore Collaborative is a partnership that
came together in 1993 to build support for children and families along
the North Shore of Lake Superior. Collaborative partners include Cook
County ISD #166, Lake Superior ISD #381, the Cook and Lake County Boards
of Commissioners, Human Development Center, Arrowhead Economic Opportunity
Agency, Arrowhead Regional Corrections and the Grand Portage Tribal
Reservation.
Our Mission Statement:
By working together to strengthen families, the North
Shore Collaborative ensures that all of our children can grow up healthy
and lead meaningful lives.
Our Vision Statement
Our vision is a healthy community where children are
a high priority. Families, the community, schools, and public and private
agencies work together as partners to address the mental, physical,
emotional, and spiritual health of all of our children. Special attention
is given to children at risk, and the stigma attached to getting help
is eliminated. There is a high degree of community awareness and consensus
about the need for collaboration to sustain healthy communities. The
North Shore will be an attractive and supportive place to live, work,
and raise families.
Our Goals
-
To help kids succeed in school.
-
To increase buy-in and involvement of under-represented
partners.
-
To increase community awareness of the value
of collaboration.
